The school honours the name of Dr. Robert Plaxton, the Division’s longest-serving superintendent, serving from 1973-1991.
In addition to serving for nearly 20 years as superintendent, Dr. Plaxton helped open the first school on the westside, Nicholas Sheran, along with Park Meadows on the northside.
After his retirement, Dr. Plaxton served as the executive director of the College of Alberta School Superintendents. He was passionate about ensuring each student in the province was given opportunity to excel and was described as a warm, kind man whose service to others inspired teachers across the province.
